Once Upon A Read-A-Thon: Third Time's A Charm

Once Upon A Read-A-Thon

On the third day of Read-A-Thon I shall be doing the following:
  • Reading my book selections, which you can find here.
  • Posting reviews/previews of the books I'm reading.
  • Participating in Read-A-Thon related activities.
  • Browsing through participating blogs.
  • Running down to B&N to catch up with a friend and pick up Linger.
  • Pretty much the same things I did on Monday and Tuesday.
I don't really have time to type up a long, rambling post like I did on the first two days of this read-a-thon, but I have enough time to say that I really screwed up today. I don't think I read 50 pages! Seriously, how hard could it be? But no, I had to procrastinate and mess around online ;< I am an awful person.

Today's read:
Spells by Aprilynne Pike - GoodReads - B&N (STILL)
Six months have passed since Laurel saved the gateway to the faerie realm of Avalon. Now she must spend her summer there, honing her skills as a Fall faerie. But her human family and friends are still in mortal danger--and the gateway to Avalon is more compromised than ever.

When it comes time to protect those she loves, will she depend on David, her human boyfriend, for help? Or will she turn to Tamani, the electrifying faerie with whom her connection is undeniable?

So, same as yesterday, I'd love to hear from any of you who have read Spells or Wings.

Thanks guys, sorry the post couldn't be longer :'(

UPDATES:
Spells by Aprilynne Pike
  • Started Monday night.
  • Not even close to the halfway point. Hopefully I'll at least finish this one today. Oh, well.
  •
Check out my dot on the map for The Book Faery's Mini-Challenge.

I answered the question for Book Soulmates' Mini-Challenge.
  • 1. Richelle Mead, because, while none of series are technically romance, the romantic elements in them are what originally drew me to the romance genre.

    2. Paranormal.

    3. Dylan and Rio from Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series.
I combined sentences for NRS Vampire Chick's Mini-Challenge.
  • Laurel stood in front of the cabin, scanning the tree line, her throat constricting in a rush of nerves.
    - Spells by Aprilynne Pike

The sweet, cloying odor of blood and honeysuckle hung in the rain-misted courtyard like rancid smoke.
    - A Rush of Wings by Adrian Phoenix

    Everyone has a secret life.
    - Dracula in Love by Karen Essex

    Every city has a pulse.
    - Night Shift by Lilith SaintCrow

It was like a final nail in a coffin.
    - Kissing Coffins by Ellen Schreiber

    The Wizard had returned.
    - Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward

Every city has a pulse, everyone has a secret life. Laurel stood in front of the cabin, scanning the tree line, her throat constricting in a rush of nerves. The sweet, cloying odor of blood and honeysuckle hung in the rain-misted courtyard like rancid smoke. It was like a final nail in a coffin--the Wizard had returned.

I'm not quite sure I did it right. I picked 6 books and combined first sentences into a 4-sentence paragraph. Unfortunately, no vampires.
