If you thought Shiver was good, then you're in for a real treat with Linger! It was so much better than the fabulous first Wolves of Mercy Falls book, and before reading it, I wouldn't have thought that that was even possible. As usual, Stiefvater's prose is unbelievably perfect, and the plot was riveting. There aren't enough ways to say that Linger positively rocked!

Blurb:

In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other.  Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack.  And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.

At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love -- the light and the dark, the warm and the cold -- in a way you will never forget.

The Book
While Shiver was full of haunting imagery and a slow, steady love affair between Grace and Sam, Linger is more fast paced and dark, adding the narrative voices of Isabelle and Cole. We all know who Isabelle is, after her part in the events of the first book, but Cole is somewhat of an enigma. A strangely attractive one, at that. You'll just have to read the book to find out why. *evil grin*

There isn't much I can say about the actual book without giving away an inordinate amount of spoilers, but I can tell you this much: whatever Grace and Sam thought they knew in Shiver was wrong, and the only one with a chance of finding the real answers is a suicidal werewolf who no one can seem to trust.

My Thoughts
I really, truly loved this book. It's one of the best YAs I've read this year, and possibly ever. It would be a lot of fun for me to just sit here and analyze all of the characters and their actions, the settings, the diction used, but instead of waxing poetic about Linger, I've decided to let one of you see for yourself. Yup, I'm finally having a giveaway!
