Why Me?

So. I am in, like, a serious mega-├╝ber-super reading slump right now, and I can't seem to get into any of the books I've started. The Secret of Ka by Christopher Pike, which I got as an ebook ARC, is waaay too long and going nowhere in a hurry; Shift by Rachel Vincent is full of action, but still slow (yes, this is possible). I don't know what to do!

As a rule, I never read more than two books at once. I want to just give up on The Secret of Ka, speed-read Shift, and get through with one of my YA Debut books, then read the Johannes Cabal books I just got in the mail, or one of the numerous ARCs sitting on my shelves, staring at me.

But I feel guilty. I know that my policy says that I can quit once I get 150 pages into a book and still hate it but I still feel bad about it. 150 has come and gone, readers, and I don't know what to do! All I know is that re-watching episodes of The Mentalist and White Collar isn't going to cut it, even if Neal Caffrey is the sexiest criminal on earth. I digress.

Any advice from those of you who've found themselves in similar situations? I really want to finish this book, but it's putting me to sleep and ruining my scheduling for other books that I'll probably (read: hopefully) like more. Ugh.

If you can't finish then don't. Just write a short review based on the pages you have read and why you couldn't finish it.
